Workplace bullying and legislation

In February, Amber Sharp and Wesley Rogers from Marque Lawyers facilitated a lunch time seminar on the hot topic of workplace bullying. In this session we looked particularly at the new Fair Work Commission’s anti-bullying legislation (which came into effect on 1 January 2014) and what this will mean for employees and employers alike.

Amber and Wesley discussed how employers can take steps to ensure that they are providing a healthy and safe work environment for all their employees. Marque Lawyers provided examples of Workplace Health & Safety and Workers Compensation claims which provided some interesting discussion points amongst the participants as well as highlighting the responsibility of employers to address bullying in the workplace.

If you have any questions about the new legislation, or would like to roll out workplace bullying training at your workplace, please contact Amber Sharp (Amber@marquelawyers.com.au), Partner of Workplace Relations at Marque Lawyers.
