We were delighted to hold our first Early Talent Masterclass today! This new quarterly initiative provides up and coming HR talent with the opportunity to meet with HR leaders over lunch to learn more about their areas of specialism.
The inaugural Masterclass focused on Employment and Industrial Relations and gave 11 Early Talent professionals the opportunity to delve deep into this area of the HR function.
Our generous speakers were Aaron Goonrey (Partner – Workplace Safety & Relations at Lander & Rogers) and Luke Baratta (HR and ER Director with extensive industrial relations experience at large and
multinational corporations including Woolworths, NBN Co. and Macquarie Group).
An intimate round table lunch gave guests the opportunity to freely ask anything they wished about the specialism in an informal setting as Aaron and Luke talked candidly about their careers and the varying types of ER and IR work they have done over the years (which was utterly fascinating!)
The Masterclass provided the group with a tangible learning forum as the specialists shared their perspectives on the place of IR/ER in the HR function; how they see the landscape changing in the future and the impact of automation on the workforce and union bodies.
What was clear was the sheer range and diversity of scenarios that this HR specialism covers. We genuinely could have listened to Luke and Aaron for hours!
We would like to extend sincere thanks to Aaron and Luke for sharing the good, the bad (and the often delicate) aspects of the profession with our eager Early Talent professionals
