Case Studies

Great candidate, shame about the resume!

This candidate had great skills and experience but hadn’t been in the job market for a long time. Her resume was focused on responsibilities and she didn’t like to ‘blow her own trumpet’.

We persuaded her that a bit of trumpet blowing might be a good thing!

As a result her resume better reflected her skills, her interview style became more confident and she got the job!

'Sensitive' industry

This was one of those instances where the client operates in a globally sensitive market and their recruitment campaigns weren’t realising the calibre of candidates.

The first step was to listen. The client knew where they wanted to be and the calibre of person they wanted to recruit, but the advice they had been given led them into dead-ends and offers that fell over at the last minute.

Good analysis of the company, the role and the challenges of the organisation led to the development of a job and candidate profile that eventuated in the successful placement of not just one, but several excellent calibre HR professionals.

Location, location, location!

The context was a start-up BU. The new HRM role called for the first six month in Alice Springs, then back in Sydney to develop the corporate functionality.

Our major contribution here was thinking outside the square, being innovative and resourceful in our search for candidates.

A candidate was placed who excelled and subsequently promoted twice in the parent group.

New HRD, new team, new directions.

As often happens, new HR Directors find themselves wanting, and needing, to change the direction of the function. This is a sensitive time for all concerned requiring careful handling. As HR practitioners we have experienced these situations ourselves so can apply our own experience to complement our recruitment expertise, advising on structure and role design.

Having worked this agenda through we then went to market attracting people who would fit the new model and adapt to the existing team and the cultural change ahead.

Careful selection along with understanding and promotion of the new direction resulted in placements that provided the HRD with the people required and the candidates with great career development opportunities.

Recruitment Headache!

This company approached us having spent a large amount of money on search for a senior specialist role. Four months later they had no suitable candidates.

As our search database services this level we had a suitable candidate, interviewed, offered and accepted within four weeks!

Happy client! Happy us!

Existing preferred supplier too general for making a capability match.

The new interstate regional HRM role with an ASX 50 in a high growth sector was a terrific opportunity in a change to strategic business partnering. Successful placement pivoted on finding a contemporary and commercially minded candidate able to effect improved people practices by influence and coaching with pragmatic, operationally minded management. They also needed the smarts to contribute to the HRD’s progressive agenda.

Our background in HR ensured we knew exactly what the HRD was looking for and that’s what we delivered. It was a challenging assignment as HR was a relatively new function for operations, but they responded to our guidance and got sight of the difference HR could make. As a result they engaged in the process really well, resulting in a very successful placement.
